If you refer to someone as the the armpit of society I think there's a law somewhere that gives them the right to punch you in the face. (Ok, not really.) It's an insult that people take to heart because they know the reputation that the armpit has. Armpits can be smelly, hairy, sweaty and discolored...but I think that's just for neglected armpits.
Having said that, I think we should change that insult to include the word 'neglected' because not all armpits are created equal. The key to having good looking and smelling underarms is to exfoliate, shave and use a deodorant that moisturizes and treats while it protects.
I can't say enough good things about a gentle exfoliant to remove dead skin cells from underarms, unclog pores and remove any old deodorant residue. The best thing I have found to exfoliate my underarms is baking soda. Here's how: While in the shower, put about a tablespoon of baking soda in the palm of your hand, then in circular motions, slowly massage in wet armpits. Rinse completely and follow with your shower and/or shave.
Shaving is an optional step only for those who might wear clogs, paisley printed maxi dresses and dabs of patchouli essential oil on any given day. For the rest of us it is a non-negotiable. I am a huge fan of Venus with Olay 5 Blade Razors. The five blades deliver a ridiculously close shave while the Olay strips work to moisturize skin and ensure minimal irritation while you shave.
It you are prone to hyperpigmentation and/or have sensitive skin, chances are your armpits are a little darker than the rest of your body. While exfoliating and shaving with a proper razor reduces the incidences of irritation and the subsequent hyperpigmentation of underarms, Dove Advance Care with Nutrium Moisture Clear Tone Skin Renew Antiperspirant Deodorant is formulated to even out skin tone with continued use. This antiperspirant deodorant delivers up to 48 hours of odor and wetness protection plus it's made with calendula castor and sunflower seed oils to moisturize and protect skin. I saw a difference in the look of by underarms after only two weeks of use.
There you have it, 3 Steps to Flawless Underarms. Start now and you can be ready to bare underarms in as little as two weeks! Also, when next you hear someone refer to another person as the armpit of society, just know that if they're using your armpit as a guideline, they're probably pretty awesome.
