TTB Files: My Summer Skin Care Travel Essentials

Packing skin care products for travel has never been least for me. When TSA first instituted the 3 fluid ounce rule where all products had to fit into a tiny ziplock bag, people scrambled to find appropriate sizes of their current skin care products. Skin care fanatics the world over were pissed! No one wanted to go buy tiny bottles to measure out 3 ounce portions. Fast forward to present day and the growth in the number of products now available in travel sizes and the increased access to these products through beauty box subscriptions such as GlossyboxCOCOTIQUE and Birchbox and sites like, make it simple to pack a tiny bag of skin care products without the use of a funnel. The trouble now is narrowing the selection down to only the essentials. Before I start packing, I assess the condition of my skin and make adjustments based on the weather conditions at my travel destination.

I have an upcoming trip to the Sunshine State and my oily skin will need help to be on its best behavior in the heat and humidity. Head to to see what I'll be packing.

TTB Files: My Beauty Favorites for September

Each month on ThisThatBeauty I share my favorite products from the previous month. For September, I had three stand out favorites, Dermalogica Daily MicrofoliantPHYTOSPECIFIC Baobab Oil, and Blisslabs Nutricosmetics Total Bliss Zen at Work.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

I have combination oily skin that becomes a regular oil slick when it gets hot outside. I’m also prone to hormonal breakouts every couple of months. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant works great on my skin no matter what condition it is in.  It is made with a “unique rice-based powder formula that activates upon contact with water, releasing Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes that micro-exfoliates dead cells, instantly leaving skin smoother and brighter.”  I use an active mask once or twice per week and this cleanser is gentle enough to use right before using my masks. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant gives a great clean and helps to balance my skin.  It also contains ingredients to brighten my skin and reduce hyperpigmentation – a winning combination. It is formulated without artificial fragrances and colors and one container can last for months. It is also perfect for travel, that’s unless TSA gets suspicious of you toting around a white powdery substance.
